    This time a year ago, I was struggling tremendously in my relationship with God, and those struggles eventually became so intense that I gave up. I became distracted by other things. I traveled far away from His heart, and I was so distracted that I didn’t even notice how far away I was.

    Now, a year later, every prayer I prayed a year ago, every desire to be delivered from my turmoil, every moment of desperation to just see His Face, it is all being answered. It has been a dark year, but now I see that He used every ounce of that darkness to teach me something important so that I would be prepared for this moment here today, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, to pray, “Let it be done unto me according to Your will” and to mean it.

    So, please, believe me: if you feel lost in the wilderness right now, if your faith is being tested, if you feel like giving up, if you have given up, I promise you that God is going to bring you out of this. He has never once abandoned His children. Never. He made a promise to you that, no matter how many times you got yourself lost, He would come find you, and He does not break His promises. Real change is possible, I promise. You do not have to be tied down by all of your hang-ups and doubts and insecurities and hurts. These things have NO claim on you. You do not have to bow down and worship them; you do not have to let them make your decisions for you; you do not have to let them tell you who you are. You do not belong to them. You belong to Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, and nobody messes with His Bride and gets away with it. Those hurts and ingrained habits and insecurities you’re carrying? They piss Him off. And you know what our God does when He’s pissed, right? He makes a whip and turns over tables and drives those evildoers out of His temple. Do you really think that He’s going to see evil inhabiting your soul—His beloved temple of the Holy Spirit, His favorite tabernacle—and do nothing? No. He is going to fight for you. He is going to ask you to fight. And it isn’t going to be easy, and it isn’t going to feel good; it’s going to feel like you are at war because you are at war, but here’s the good news: if you fight, you are guaranteed to win. Guaranteed. The devil makes himself look very big and powerful, but, once you begin to fight his dominion over you, you start to realize that, actually, he scares really easily. The minute you start to really fight, you’re going to experience a lot of chaos. Why? Because he’s powerless to do anything to keep you from God, and, in the face of his powerlessness, he’s going to do what any cowardly bully does: punch you a bunch of times in a fit of irrational rage. Don’t let that get to you. He’s just jealous because you get to have what will never again be his and what he has decided he doesn’t need: Love. If you keep fighting, if you keep pressing in, if you keep asking others to pray for you and to help you fight, you are eventually going to make a breakthrough. You are going to win this thing because Jesus is our Victor; He has overcome death and destruction and sin and has come so that you might have life and have it abundantly. Everything is going to start to make sense, and you will end up exactly where you were always meant to be: in His arms.

    So, don’t give up, okay?
